Backdraft – NBC Dateline
Backdraft is a 1994 NBC News Dateline story produced by Steve McCarthy. It told the story of the Watts St. fire which took the lives of three NYC firefighters. It featured Vina Drennan, the wife of Captain John Drennan (Ladder 5), who died because of the fire. It also featured Captain Patrick J. Brown, a friend of McCarthy’s, who stayed with Mrs. Drennan during the 40-day burn center vigil as Captain Drennan clung to life. Winner 1995 Emmy for Outstanding Background/Analysis of a Single Current Story. Captain “Paddy Brown” would die in the North Tower during the 9/11 attacks.

The Boys of Berkayel – MSNBC
In 2005 McCarthy Productions traveled throughout the Middle East to report on Jihadis going to fight American forces in Iraq. This video blog was produced about a story called “The Boys of Berkayel”. It featured a group of young who went to Iraq to help their fellow Arabs. Berkayel is a small town in the hills of northern Lebanon near the Syrian border.

2020 Election Special: Pennsylvania – PBS Washington Week
On the eve of the 2020 presidential election, McCarthy Productions, Inc produced stories about the vote in Pennsylvania for a special report of PBS’s Washington Week. Featuring Washington Post Reporter Robert Costa, we traveled through the battleground state and reported a very close race. The stories were edited by Ryan McCarthy, with Ken Spooner on camera, Hilary Taylor Associate Producer and Steve McCarthy as Producer and Director of Photography. Hayatuna
Our film Hayatuna is showing in the Montclair Film Festival. Hayatuna – or “Our Lives” documents a program to help disadvantaged youth to express themselves through singing and theater. The film, shot with MSU students in Jordan and Sweden, was produced by Dr. David Sanders and Steve McCarthy. Samsung Corporate Video – Executive Sleep Over – Covenant House
McCarthy Productions Inc. recently produced this content for Samsung about Samsung North America CEO & President Tim Baxter spending a night sleeping out for a Newark NJ Covenant House fundraiser. The project helps raise money and awareness for the problem of homeless youth.

Attack in Garland – 60 Minutes
Steve McCarthy co-produced the recent 60 Minutes story “Attack in Garland” with producer Graham Messick and correspondent Anderson Cooper. The story disclosed that an undercover FBI agent was right behind the ISIS inspired terrorists as they attempted an attack in Garland Texas in 2015.
